I have been playing for a couple of days on this project. After seeing the stunning creations by
Maya I was inspired to make a match box advent calender. I bought the matchboxes and then got busy with other bits. Then while surfing I can across
Rachels wonderful take on the advent calender (bought of which where inspired by
Bubblyfunk) I thought it was time I made mine.

So here it is my creation.

I have made it for my daughter Heather who will find out when she gets back from school today. The theme for the calender has been holly and red (I think I should call my blog the red blog) I love creating with this colour.
I have used Basicgrey paper and K&co holly paper that I have glittered.

I painted the match boxes a vintage gold colour and crackle glazed the front of the drawers with fired brick by Ranger. The glass beads are from a necklace I bought at a market for 50p. Its a great way of getting some nice beads for a fraction of the price.
I have coloured Tilda with snowball and adapted her to hold Heathers name, this has been created with cutting the letters and then embossing them with gives them a very metal look. I strung them with wire to make it more interesting and Tilda holds it like a banner.

I have punched a circle from card and triple embossed it before using a christmas stamp from Magnolia to emboss the image to make a charm. Its great you can still read the whole rhyme. I hope you like it, more importantly I hope Heather likes it.
Stamps: Magnolia
Paper: Basicgrey and K&co
Acrylic paint and Ranger Distress crackle paint.

This is such a gorgeous project Jakki, you have made a lovely keepsake! lovely work hugs Linda x
Hello. While writing an English essay for my Shakespeare class I was procrastinating online and ran across your blog. I must say that you did a fantastic job with the matchstick jewelry box. I was just wondering if you could perhaps lead me in the right direction as to how I might go about making one of these myself? As Christmas is fast approaching I would love to make one for my girlfriend, so that she might have some place to put all the jewelry I have previously bought her. :) Once again, fantastic job, and hope to here from you soon! Cheers!
